AIM

The purpose of Learn ‘n’ GRO days is to give learner riders a safe, controlled environment where some basic motorcycling skills can be refined.

The training covers a number of areas such as rider posture, cornering techniques, road craft and what you’ll need to know for your P's test.

The sessions have been generously donated by H.A.R.T so are free of charge for financial GRO members.  Membership is $25 for new members, $20 for renewals and forms can be downloaded from here. Leaner's must be a GRO member before they come to the Learn ‘n’ GRO.

It will be expected that you will be confident enough to ride on a main road at the posted or learner restricted speed limit, ie, if you're not comfortable riding with the traffic on an arterial road, then perhaps continue practicing on quiet back streets or book some one-on-one training with an Instructor before attending the Learn 'n' GRO.

Learn 'n' GRO days are limited to 1 (one) session per learner, however H.A.R.T. have a number of courses at very reasonable prices.  Their instructors are also available for one on one training at an hourly rate.  Please mention that you are a GRO member when booking a course as special deals for GRO members are sometimes available.

As with any rider training, numbers are limited, so you will need to book a spot by e-mailing LNG@girlsrideout.com.  Don't forget to specify which session you would like to attend.

What to Bring:

  • A valid drivers licence

  • A roadworthy and registered Learner Approved Motorcycle with adequate tyre tread

  • Wet weather gear

Please make sure your bike has a full tank of petrol BEFORE you get to the meet point

FAQs

What time does the training actually begin?

We depart from The Ranch Hotel at 7:30am SHARP and ride as a group to H.A.R.T St Ives.  Once there, you will need to sign in and the Instructor will check your licenses and bikes.  Training usually commences around 8:30am and if you are late, you will not be allowed to join the group.

How long does the day last?

This depends on the number of riders and their level of competency however training generally finishes around 12:30/1:00pm.

What happens if it rains?

Unless you have brought wet weather gear with you, you’ll get wet.  Training is not cancelled unless the rain is torrential and riding in the rain is something that we will all need to do at some stage whether we want to or not.

I’m a little vague with directions.  Could someone help me get to the meet point?

We can try to arrange a “Buddy” to meet you at a pre-determined place and time, however this is not always possible.  Please email LNG@girlsrideout.com if you would like us to try and organise assistance.
